Moon and Turtle

Kiyomi and Sachiko have a great talent for infusing their patterns with unique and contemporary details with a classic style. Pom Pom Publishing releases their first collection of the twins. The “Moon and Turtle” collection contains nine knitted patterns (4 pieces, 5 accessories) that showcase an edgy urban aesthetic, reflecting the twins' lives in Toronto/Tkaronto, Canada.

Just like Kiyomi and Sachiko, Moon and Turtle are truly synergistic. The duality associated with identical twins is thoughtfully and intelligently captured in every aspect of the book. From the drawings, to the authors' reflections, to the title of the book itself. There is a quiet harmony in the idea that two things or two people can be visually similar but also sensitively distinct.

The patterns are gender neutral, rated up to a 62” chest, and contain body and sleeve length adjustments in the hope that this book will be enjoyed by many knitters for years to come. The play of color, paired with simply constructed pieces, means that Moon and Turtle is a fabulous step up from pattern books like Ready Set Raglan and Take Heart. Kiyomi and Sachiko’s sisterly affection for each other is clear and shines through in their words and designs.
