The JAlbers shawl, made with 1 ball of mYak Fiocco di Cashmere combined with mYak Baby Yak Lace , is inspired by the works of the German artist Josef Albers who throughout his career paid particular attention to the “contrasting effects” of shape, texture and above all colour.
In the 1950s, Albers began his celebrated series Homage to the Square, based on a mathematically determined format of several squares, which appear to be superimposed or nested within each other in an attempt to study the subjective experience of color: the effects that adjacent colors have on each other and the illusion of depth that color creates in the perception of space.
Jalbers , the shawl designed by Federica Giudice, takes up the idea of the square and the play of colours that move together creating a melange base on which squares of various sizes and colours are arranged, using one of the yarns each time to design them inside the shawl with the stranded technique.
The pattern will be presented in written form indicating the various sections in which the squares have been placed in the version of the photo. However, we invite you to play with the arrangement of the elements that characterize the shawl based on the desired density and the overall chromatic effect that you will be able to perceive as you proceed with the creation.
Those who purchase the kit , which will only be available from December 16th to January 6th , will be able to preview the new colours of mYak Fiocco di Cashmere: Black Swan, Red Velvet, Earl Grey, Pumpkin Pie, Cupcake Pink, Lemon Curd.
